Handgun Retention & Disarming

In this course you will learn how to stun or disable your opponent while using or protecting your handgun. You will also be able to disarm an opponent of his handgun. This course is part of an integrated system that flows seamlessly from unarmed defense, to defensive knife and gun, to weapon retention and disarming. The InSights system is non-diagnostic, simple, and destructive.

This course combines techniques from InSights Training Center's Unarmed Self-Defense Course. You will learn to blend this unarmed combat system into an integrated firearms combat system. The course will make extensive use of striking bags and protective padded suits (FIST gear) and you will be striking "opponents" in combat simulations.

The only rule in self-defense is: Always Win. Come see how to win!

Subjects Covered:

Fighting your way out of contact distance confrontations
Using both lethal and non-lethal force while executing the same handgun retention techniques
Recovering from a knockdown, retaining your gun from there, and fighting your way back up
Disarming an opponent of their handgun from almost any position with just one technique

Prerequisites:

CONCEALED WEAPONS PERMIT or documentation of good character, and bring these documents with you to class! If you do not have a concealed weapons permit, here is a link to the WSP background check service. If you are not a WA resident, please find your state's equivalent service.

Required Equipment:

Sturdy belt holster and belt; Sturdy leather gloves; Soft elbow and knee pads (no hard plastic)

Optional Equipment:

Inert (dummy) gun if you have one (we have some models available)
